Launched on November 6, 2014, Roanoke’s first ever Star Tank focused on connecting local investors, with entrepreneurs and small business owners from around the region, with the hope of generating positive economic momentum in the Roanoke Valley.
Hosted by CoLab in Roanoke’s Grandin Village, Roanoke Star Tank organizers encouraged new and expanding businesses that felt prepared to take the next step with their business and present in front of a panel of prominent business investors from the region. Founder and organizer Christopher Desimone created the event to provide an opportunity for local investors and people with ideas to join together and create a more prosperous corporate footprint in the Roanoke Valley, one small business at a time.
“We don’t want to lose this region’s next big idea to another state because there weren’t people willing to step up and invest in our local business community,” Desimone said. “There are a lot of innovative concepts coming out of this area and yet every day established businesses remain stagnant and new businesses never get off the ground because they lack the capital they need. Many have a sound concept and solid business plan, but no resources. That’s where Star Tank steps in.”

Star Tank investors were made up of an experienced group of the community’s most visionary, successful entrepreneurs and business owners. Investors listened to, and evaluated business models and concepts throughout the day. If they believed the business had potential, they presented verbal offers for a stake in the company.
Registration is now open to present during the 3rd Annual Roanoke Star Tank on November 15, 2016 during CoLab Small Business Week. Click here to find out more and register today.
