Mark is a serial entrepreneur with experience in healthcare, technology, restaurant development and community service. In 1992, he and his wife Wendy founded Lucas Therapies, an innovative physical and occupational therapy practice with clinics in southwest and central Virginia. Soon after, he founded ProVox Technologies, pioneers in voice recognition technology and winner of Microsoft’s product of the year award in the Emerging Technologies Sector in 2000. In 2004, Mark and two partners became the first franchisees of Five Guys Burgers & Fries building out a 25-unit territory in Virginia and North Carolina before selling the company. In 2012, he tried his hand at politics in a run for Mayor of Roanoke narrowly losing to incumbent Mayor David Bowers by 347 votes. Currently Mark is working on two promising biomedical technology devices, one of which could significantly reduce the occurrence of ACL injuries in athletes. Mark is actively involved in the entrepreneurial community as an innovator, investor and mentor – and he’s a Hokie!
